Technology attracts Chinese interest

Chinese companies have discovered Oulu and the opportunities it offers in the ICT business. The arrivals include Wuhan FINGU Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. and BYD Company Limited. They expect that other companies will soon move to Oulu as well. The high tech corporation Fingu started a subsidiary in Oulu roughly a year ago. “Fingu Finland will have two main sectors: customer support and services and the development of a diversified business. We chose Oulu because it offers world-class standards in information technology networks and services and its high tech industries are famous for their high growth,´ says Fingu´s European Marketing Director Mr. Xin Zhang.

BYD Company is a leading manufacturer of IT components, cars and car parts. BYD Finland Oy´s Oulu office was set up to support Nokia´s business in city. “In the long term, our Oulu office could become an important winter testing center. BYD has developed the F3e electric car and the F6DM hybrid, which need testing in extreme conditions. We have noticed there are testing resources of this type in the area,´ says BYD´s Site Manager Mr. Robin Zhang.
