Expeshare Project Demo Video Available at MediaTeam Website - 02.03.2010
Expeshare, a collaboration project of MediaTeam Oulu research group, Nokia and VTT, ended in October 2009. The project studied experience sharing in mobile peer communities. The project manager was research scientist Timo Koskela and project director was Professor Mika Ylianttila. The project was a part of the pan-European ITEA2 program.
The project studied new technologies for capturing and sharing experiences in mobile communities. The project also studied the technologies of Web 2.0 and mash-ups that combine content and services from various sources. The work in the project becomes concrete with a service architecture that is created for the development, testing and introduction of new technologies and experience sharing services. Special attention was also paid to the management of content rights and understanding of the associated value chains and market structures.
The project culminated to user testing in an authentic usage environment. The testing was organized to test the City Night Life music service, which helps the users to find a restaurant or bar suitable for their music taste. The test users were also able to vote the music they wanted to hear in the bar that was involved in the testing. The user testing created plenty of interest within the test users, and despite of some minor technical difficulties, the testing was a success. The test users considered the service as useful especially for those who are not familiar with the music styles of the restaurants of the city. Inspired by the positive feedback from the user testing, the slightly modified City Night Life service will be available in the UBI Displays of downtown Oulu later during the year 2010.
In addition to MediaTeam, also Nokia, VTT, Kutalab, Movial and Brieftec were involved in the project. The project was financed by Tekes.
