Business in Oulu means possibilities to expand your market. The City of Oulu is situated at a strategic location just a few hours drive from the large markets of both Sweden and Russia. Its comprehensive railroad network, large container harbour and excellent road system make Oulu an important logistics centre, through which it it possible to reach wide markets from Europe to the Barents region.

Oulu Airport offers excellent domestic and foreign flight connections. With just 50 minutes of flight time, there are numerous flights daily to Helsinki by Finnair and Blue1 seamlessly connecting Oulu to the rest of the world. Air Baltic has daily connections to Riga, Tallinn and Stockholm. The airport will soon experience major upgrades with the launch of a reconstruction and enlargement project. The improvements will double the airport´s passenger capacity and notably expand the airport area by 2011.

The Port of Oulu is one of the leading forest industry and large container harbors in the northern region of the Gulf of Bothnia with regular shipping connections to different parts of Europe. Over 500 vessels a year visit Oulu's Oritkari, Nuottasaari, Vihreäsaari and Toppila harbors.

Oulu has numerous rail connections to different parts of Finland. Modern Pendolino and InterCity trains enable comfortable and easy travel and many include business services to facilitate working on board.

Oulu´s extensive and wide roads are well-maintained year round, making traveling by car easy and convenient. However, a car is not a must. Reliable public transportation and good bicycle roads make moving ease without a car.
